FIRE EXTINGUISHER SERVICES
READY WHEN YOU NEED IT
Will Your Fire Extinguishers Work When You Need Them?
Most fire extinguishers hang on the wall for years and never get used. That is a good thing. But it also means nobody finds out one has lost pressure until the day there is a fire.
A yearly inspection is how you find out before that day comes.

A fire extinguisher is the first thing your staff will reach for when a small fire starts. It can stop that fire before it spreads. But pressure can leak down over time. The powder inside can pack down. A unit can get blocked by boxes, knocked off its hook, or used once and hung back up empty.
Fire code has a say too. Every business needs working extinguishers with a current tag. The fire marshal and your insurance company will both look for it.
Tri-State Fire Protection Services provides fire extinguisher services for offices, restaurants, shops, schools, warehouses, and apartment buildings across Delaware County. Our company was founded by a firefighter, and our techs check every unit as if they might be the ones who have to use it.

WHAT WE DO
Fire Extinguisher Services From Inspection to Replacement
Whether you have one extinguisher or two hundred, one team can take care of all of them. Here is what we handle.
Annual Inspections
Fire code calls for a fire extinguisher inspection by a trained technician once a year. We check every unit, fix small problems, and hang a new dated tag.
Monthly Inspections
Extinguishers also need a quick visual check every month. Your staff can do it, or we can come out and handle it for you.
Recharging and Maintenance
Any extinguisher that has been used, even for a second, needs a recharge. We refill it, check the parts, and get it back on the wall.
Six-Year Service and Hydrostatic Testing
Extinguishers need deeper service as they age. Most dry chemical units get an internal check at six years and a pressure test at twelve. We check the dates and tell you what is due.
Sales and Installation
Need new extinguishers? We help you pick the right type and size, mount them where code requires, and tag them.
Placement Review
Too few extinguishers, the wrong type, or a unit in the wrong spot can all fail an inspection. We walk your building and point out what needs to change.
ABC, CO2, Class K,
and More
Not every fire is the same, so not every fire extinguisher is the same. ABC dry chemical units cover most offices, shops, and warehouses. CO2 units are a common choice for electrical and server rooms. Class K units are made for commercial kitchens. Tell us what is in your building, and we will match the right extinguisher to each area.
WHAT TO EXPECT
What Happens During a Fire Extinguisher Inspection
Every extinguisher gets a full check once a year. Here is what our tech does with each one.

We check the location.
Each extinguisher should be mounted, easy to see, and easy to reach. Nothing should be blocking it.
We look for damage.
Dents, rust, cracks, and leaks can all take a unit out of service.
We check the gauge and the weight.
The needle should be in the green, and the unit should weigh what the label says.
We check the pin, seal, hose, and nozzle.
The pin should be in place with the seal unbroken. The hose and nozzle should be clear and free of cracks.
We check the dates.
We look at when the unit was made and when it is due for six-year service or pressure testing.
We tag it and write it up.
Each unit gets a new dated tag, and you get a record for the fire marshal or your insurance company.
The rules behind all of this come from NFPA 10, the national standard for portable fire extinguishers. We keep up with the standard so you don't have to.
Between our visits, someone should look at each extinguisher once a month. Is it in its spot? Is the gauge in the green? Is the pin in place? If you would like us to handle it, we offer monthly inspections too.
DON'T WAIT
Signs Your Fire Extinguishers Needs Service
You can spot most problems yourself. Walk your building and check each extinguisher for these.
Any one of these is a good reason to call. Fixing it now costs far less than a failed inspection or an extinguisher that does not work.
The tag is more than a year old, or there is no tag.
The gauge needle is not in the green.
The pin or the plastic seal is missing.
The extinguisher was used, even for a moment.
You see dents, rust, or a cracked hose.
The unit is blocked, sitting on the floor, or missing from its hook.
The label is worn off or can't be read.
You moved in, remodeled, or changed how you use the space.

What Our Customers Say
COMMON QUESTIONS
Fire Extinguisher Questions We Get Asked Most
These are the questions business owners and property managers ask us most.
Have additional questions? Contact Tri-State Fire Protection Services today to speak with our team.
How often do fire extinguishers need to be inspected?
Every extinguisher needs a quick visual check once a month and a full inspection by a trained technician once a year. Older units also need six-year service and pressure testing. If your tag is more than a year old, you are past due.
Who should I call for fire extinguisher service near me in Delco?
Pick a company that is close by, uses certified technicians, and can service every type of extinguisher in your building. Ask if they tag each unit and give you a written record. Tri-State Fire Protection Services is based in Folsom and was founded by a firefighter. Call us at (610) 707-8180 and see if we are a good fit.
Can I inspect my own fire extinguishers?
You can do the monthly check yourself. Make sure each unit is in its spot, the gauge is in the green, and the pin is in place. The yearly inspection has to be done by a trained technician, who will tag each unit when it passes.
Does my extinguisher need a recharge if I only used it a little?
Yes. Once the handle is squeezed, the extinguisher starts to lose pressure, even if the gauge still looks fine. Have it recharged before it goes back on the wall.
How long do fire extinguishers last?
A rechargeable extinguisher can last for many years with regular service. It needs to be replaced if it is damaged or fails a pressure test. Disposable units that can't be recharged have to be replaced 12 years after the date they were made.
How many fire extinguishers does my business need?
It depends on the size of your building, the layout, and what is inside. In most businesses, nobody should have to walk more than 75 feet to reach one. Commercial kitchens need a Class K unit within 30 feet of the cooking equipment. We can walk your building and tell you what you need.
How much does fire extinguisher service cost?
Fire extinguisher inspections start at $95, plus $6 per extinguisher. Tell us how many units you have, and we will give you a quote.
Do you offer fire extinguisher training?
Yes. Our sister company, Tri-State Training, teaches hands-on fire extinguisher training for your staff. OSHA expects employers to train workers when they are hired and once a year after that if they are expected to use an extinguisher.
